As an incoming freshman, Sophia Young had earned a spot on the varsity cheerleading squad through hard work & athleticism.
However, the summer before starting high school, her family moved her two hundred fifty miles from everyone & everything she had ever known.
The move, the loss of friends & having to give up her cheerleading spot hurt deeply, but the simple fact that she didn’t have any choice in any of it is what hurt most.
In a moment of anger, Sophia discovers some old audio tapes in a long-forgotten cubbyhole. The tapes, along with the help of an unusual friend & while battling with her conscience, she makes some choices that help her come to terms with her “summer of discontent”.
